The texture of these is so good, as is the flavor of the homemade buffalo sauce, but I have to agree with the one who said that the “wings” taste a lot like stuffing. I can’t eat soy because of an allergy so i’m looking for an alternative in the recipe. I didn’t have silken tofu so I used hummus and although it tasted good, I would not recommend this alteration bc it tasted creamy like arancini rather than chicken.I will be making this in roast turkey version for Thanksgiving super excited.Whats the purpose of the tofu? Hi! I’m so sorry!Mine are in the oven, and I subbed 2 T of creamy natural peanut butter. You can use almond milk or bbq sauce instead of hot sauce for the dredging if you don’t want it to be spicy.Just wanted to follow up! It seems that they would freeze well, but not sure. I’m THRILLED with this one! For the "bones" you can use either sugar cane or popsicle sticks; or you can simply have "boneless" wings!

If l made a whole batch of wings and left them in the fridge or freezer overnight, do you think they’d be fine for the next day? It gets even more confusing: While bone char is used to bleach and filter cane sugar, not all cane sugar is refined with bone char. It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t the greatest 1st impression of seitan. Bake the sugar cane chicken legs in the oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown. I’ll wait to toss them in the hot sauce until right before serving… if there are indeed any left. Every 10 minutes I would flip them over and baste again – 30-40 minutes total. Well done, wonderful easy recipe. These vegan drumsticks are great either fried or baked, and can be slathered in barbecue sauce, vegan ranch, or any other dipping sauce you would put on a traditional drumstick. I used seitan that I’d already made and didn’t have buffalo wing sauce, so I used Texas Pete and vegan butter. I used to work in a pub and bar that had a special wings night every Friday. Is there something I can do differently?Sometimes the gluten can over-develop if the dough is worked with too much. Remove them from the oven with mittens. Never again. Came out great.

The vegan drumsticks come on a piece of cane sugar vine and provide a very interesting flavor with whichever sauce you have added. Try soaking them very quickly and not letting them get too mushy before wrapping the drumsticksShould have watched the video first. Excited to try it cooked through next time. Nothing like chicken. Haha, I’m a vegetarian (not a full vegan) so I still can eat eggs and just thought it might be easier to use I didn’t ask if you approved, but thanks for the answer lol Not stupid. However, instead of making it into the shape of a chicken wing, simply coat a chicken wing with the wheat flour instead. Bone char is made from the bones of cattle who were slaughtered in foreign countries and sold to traders in other foreign countries, who then sell the bones back to the U.S. sugar industry.
It might be worth adding that in the text recipe for people who didn’t watch the vid. Add more of either or both sauces if you’d like your wings extra saucy. These were delicious! Looking froward to making these.
