It is definatley a speedster says it on the side and the back....also have seen several just like mine on the net...all have a drivers seat and then a rear facing passenger seat....but I have seen them listed as 1997 and 1998....which seems to suggest that there have been a couple Versions for several years?Both 98-99 Speedsters have the same seats as the pic in my avatar. i really dont want to pull two pumps...... is this all I can expect out if this? If it has a driver seat, single rear facing passenger seat then the row of 3 rear seats, its not a 98 or 99 speedster.If the seats layout is the 3 rear and then the rear facing passenger, that sounnds like a 97, which has 2 717 motors and is also a 14 ft boat.This certainly is confusing as there are two speedster models as Foster was saying.
I have both a 1996 and a 1997. the 1998 has 4 seperate seats facing forward. yah, you have to cut the bad ring w/ sawsall, some kind of saw, but dont hit the housing itself, or, read where can "walk" flathead screwdriver around and eventually pop ur out. I know the mechanic put performance carbs on it.Can you post a picture of these "performance" carbs? Challenger Top Speed I have a '99 18' Challenger with twin 110's and at altitude with two onboard get 46-47mph on speedo. I took mine out last weekend and we only could get it to about 45. I am convinced that this is a 1997...most boats like it on the net are 1997...only a couple think they are 1998s....thanks for the info!I clicked on your profile and saw your pic....You have a 98. There is definately something wrong with my 96 Speedster then I could only muster 46MPH :rant:thats what mine was out and then changed the wear rings and couldn't believe the difference.I have a '99 challenger 1800 and I can get the needle to 55 with just me in the boat...but with about 5 people in the boat i can hit an easy 50 MPH even when im pulling a tube...I would say have your compression checked...or go buy some badass impellers.......My boss has a sea doo PWC and he claims waxing the hull will add some speed (not too sure about that one though) The 1998 model shared a hull with the 1996 GTX and maintained the 717 engine. Took it out on a small lake today and it was 10-12mph faster peaking out at about 56mph compared to 40-44 before changing the wear rings.
